Feeding the soul: EATING (40 x 50cm)

Influenced by traditional Japanese art deco wallpaper, the background comes to life, embracing the focal character (painted in oils) in a moment of time when a simple bowl of noodles can in fact, feed the soul. The bold, high gloss frame provides a contrast between the matt acrylic on canvas and draws the viewers eye to the warm glow which emanates from a bowl of noodles. Across cultures and generations, food brings people together, creating space for conversation, laughter and connection. For many, food also carries spiritual significance such as breaking of the fast or ancestral offerings. In a world that can feel fragmented or hurried, I created this piece to highlight how food remains one of the most universal and grounding expressions of love, care and spirit… feeding our souls.
